What if my external USB drive is not recognized in Windows 7?

I would recommend you open Disc management and verify if the drive is detected there, here are the steps which may help you:
  1. Goto Computer Management by simply clicking on the Start button- click Control Panel- click System and Security- click Administrative Tools and after that twice click on Computer Management.
  2. In the left windowpane, click Disk Management.
  3. If you see a drive that does not have a drive letter associated with it, right click on the drive icon in the top-right window pane and select "change drive letter and paths" from the drop-down menu.
  4. To allocate a drive letter if one has not previously been allocated click Add; click the letter which you wish to use, and after that click ok.
Done, you should now be able to see your drives under Computer.
